Fabric Hatteras Hammocks Bring the Flair of South America to Your Backyard

Fabric hammocks can be divided into two broad categories: fabric hammocks with spreader bars and fabric hammocks without spreader bars.  The spreader bar is a bar, typically of wood through which the ropes running the length of the fabric hammock pass.  On fabric hammocks with spreader bars, the distance between these bars is defined as the “bed” of the fabric hammock and is the usable portion of the fabric hammock.  The spreader bar keeps the bed portion of the fabric hammock relatively flat even when loaded.  When selecting a fabric hammock with a spreader bar, look for bars manufactured from a dense, weather resistant hardwood such as teak, mahogany or cypress.

The second category of fabric hammocks is the fabric hammock without spreader bars.  The main characteristic of these fabric hammocks is that, when occupied, the fabric hammock tends to wrap around its occupant.  This can create a very secure and cozy feeling, lulling one into a blissful sleep relaxing in their Hatteras fabric hammock.
